With the top photographers from around Yorkshire entering over 3000+ photos and only 200 being chosen for the exhibition display at Huddersfield Art Gallery my image of Dunstanburgh Castle Sunrise was selected which as per the YPU website is an achievement in itself but to be among the few who gain a Certificate of Merit makes me immensely proud.
My photo will now be displayed at Huddersfield Art Gallery until 2nd September as part of a 200 print selection from over 3000+ image entries.
More info below from the YPU website if you are able to attend the gallery,
Exhibition in Huddersfield Art Gallery 13th May to 2nd September 2017
The Annual Assembly and Exhibition of the Yorkshire Photographic Union is the largest event in the Region during the year. This year it is hosted by Huddersfield Photo-Imaging Club, the latest society representing the proud tradition of amateur photography in Huddersfield.
The exhibition draws on the skills and resources of the top photographers from the 75 photographic clubs in Yorkshire which are affiliated to the Yorkshire Photographic Union (YPU). Every photographer can enter up to 10 prints and 10 digital images and all these are viewed and assessed by an independent panel of selectors.
Out of the thousands which are entered only 200 prints and 200 digital images are chosen, so to even have your work selected for display is an achievement. The quality of work on display will be high and will probably include images which will have been or will be successful in national and international salons. The exhibition will be held in the Huddersfield Art Gallery for a period of 16 weeks and will be open to the public five days a week.
The Assembly itself will be the focal point on the first day of the exhibition and will be held in the splendid auditorium of Huddersfield Town Hall, home to the world famous Huddersfield Choral Society and a symbol of Victorian civic pride. Our Guest of Honour for the day will be Ian Beesley Hon FRPS, the award-winning northern-based documentary photographer. He will be shown around the exhibition in the morning and will formally declare it open during the Assembly. He will then make the presentation of all the annual exhibition awards for prints and digital images.
